China’s photovoltaic (PV) operation and maintenance (O&M) market continued its rapid expansion in the first half of 2026, reflecting a broader shift from solar deployment toward long-term asset management.
According to industry data, China’s PV O&M tenders exceeded 99GW in H1 2026, with 93GW already awarded, representing a 13% increase compared with the same period in 2025.
State-owned energy companies remained the dominant force, contributing 98% of total tender volume. State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) ranked first with 19.9GW, followed by China Energy Investment Corporation with over 9GW. Other major players, including PowerChina, Huadian Group, and China National Nuclear Corporation, each exceeded 5GW.
The market structure is also evolving. Integrated O&M services became the mainstream model, accounting for around 65GW, as project owners increasingly prefer full lifecycle solutions covering monitoring, maintenance, cleaning, and performance optimization.
Large-scale solar bases remained the key demand source, while leasing and renewable asset platforms created new opportunities. Hua Xia Financial Leasing secured 10.59GW of awarded O&M capacity, highlighting the growing role of third-party asset operators in China’s solar ecosystem.
Competition is becoming increasingly concentrated. The top five O&M companies won more than 31GW of projects, representing about 33% of total awarded capacity. Sungrow Power Service led the market with 12GW, followed by Skyworth PV, Linyang Intelligent Energy, Chint Power Service, and Concord O&M.
The rapid growth of China’s solar O&M sector signals a new industry phase: as PV installations continue to expand, improving operational efficiency and maximizing asset value will become the next major growth opportunity.
For the global solar industry, China’s experience shows that the future of photovoltaics is not only about building more capacity — it is also about managing existing assets smarter and longer.
