Recently, Canadian photovoltaic manufacturer Heliene announced that it has started production of its third solar module line in the United States, located in Rogers, Minnesota. The annual production capacity is 500MW, slightly lower than the 550MW announced in October last year.
The commissioning of the new production line indicates that Heliene's annual production capacity for solar components in the US has increased to 1.3 GW. Previously, the company had already launched two other production lines in Minnesota, with capacities of 300 MW and 500 MW respectively. The third solar component production line of Heliene in the US has also been put into operation.
The newly launched 500MW project has received a $2.3 million funding support from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), and also has received special subsidies from other state-level institutions. In addition, Heliene has obtained $54 million in equity financing from a transitional equity investment company, which provides a guarantee for the development of the production line.
Heliene estimates that this project will create more than 220 jobs, covering production operations, engineering and operation support. Recruitment is currently underway.
In March this year, Heliene also announced a partnership with the US solar cell manufacturer Suniva and the materials giant Corning Incorporated, jointly launching the only module that uses domestically produced polysilicon, silicon wafers and cells. This further strengthened its integrated industrial chain strategy in the US market.
