According to JMK Research projections, India is expected to add approximately 42.5GW of solar capacity by 2026. This comprises 32.5GW of utility-scale solar plants, 8.5GW of rooftop solar installations, and 1.5GW of off-grid solar systems.
Analysts' data indicates India installed roughly 37.8GW of solar capacity during FY2025. This comprises approximately 28.6GW of new utility-scale solar installations – a 54.6% increase over 2024 – alongside 7.9GW of rooftop solar, marking a 72% year-on-year rise. Off-grid capacity additions stood at 1.35GW, slightly below the 1.48GW recorded in 2024.
