India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has added 529 MW of monocrystalline PERC solar cell capacity to Part II of its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), bringing the total registered solar cell manufacturing capacity under the list to 37,393 MW.
The newly listed capacity belongs to Premier Energies Photovoltaic, a subsidiary of Premier Energies, at its manufacturing facility in Telangana. The addition increases the subsidiary’s registered monocrystalline PERC capacity to 1,280 MW.
Premier Energies Expands Its Registered Capacity
Following the update, Premier Energies’ registered monocrystalline PERC cell capacity totals 2,454 MW, while its combined registered solar cell capacity across technologies reaches 3,812 MW. Its portfolio also includes 1,358 MW of G12R N-type TOPCon cell capacity.
This marks the 11th revision of ALMM Part II since the list was first issued on July 31, 2025, reflecting continued additions to India’s domestic solar manufacturing base.
Domestic Manufacturing Rules Continue to Evolve
ALMM Part II sets domestic solar cell sourcing requirements for covered utility-scale projects. However, MNRE has extended the exemption for net-metering and open-access solar projects from these requirements until December 31, 2026.
India is also expanding the ALMM framework to cover upstream manufacturing. A new Part III list will include silicon ingots and wafers, with mandatory implementation scheduled from June 1, 2028, subject to the framework’s listing conditions.
These measures form part of India’s broader effort to strengthen domestic solar supply chains and reduce reliance on imported components.
