On July 2, the China Silicon Industry Association (CSIA) released the latest weekly transaction data, showing that domestic silicon wafer prices trended downward under market pressure.
In detail, the average transaction price of N-type G10L monocrystalline silicon wafers (182×183.75mm, 130μm) was RMB 0.88 per piece, down 2.22% week on week. N-type G12R monocrystalline silicon wafers (182×210mm, 130μm) recorded an average price of RMB 0.97 per piece, with a week-on-week decline of 2.02%. The average price of N-type G12 monocrystalline silicon wafers (210×210mm, 130μm) fell slightly by 0.85% week on week to RMB 1.16 per piece.
The dual drag of weakening cost support and sluggish end demand drove the weekly price decline of silicon wafers.
On the cost side, ongoing price drops of polysilicon driven by market supply-demand mismatches have further weakened the cost support for silicon wafers. On the demand side, weak downstream PV installation demand and falling prices of solar cells and modules have significantly curbed downstream purchasing willingness, leading to sluggish silicon wafer shipments.
In addition, some silicon wafer producers have moderately increased operating rates, expanding market supply and exacerbating inventory pressure. Against this backdrop, downstream participants remained cautious and adopted a wait-and-see attitude, resulting in thin market transactions and a moderate decline in silicon wafer prices.
