China’s polysilicon prices remained unchanged this week, according to the latest data released by the Silicon Industry Branch on October 28.
The average transaction price of N-type rod polysilicon stood at RMB 43,000 per tonne, unchanged from the previous week. N-type granular polysilicon was traded at RMB 40,000–41,000 per tonne, with an average price of RMB 40,300 per tonne.
Spot market activity remained weak, with limited new orders. Downstream buyers continued to use existing inventories rather than make large purchases, while overall industry stocks remained relatively high.
However, supply-side adjustments are beginning to take effect. Some production capacity in southwestern China has been shut down since October, and manufacturers are expected to continue production cuts in November. These measures are gradually easing the market’s oversupply.
Meanwhile, expectations of warehouse receipt cancellations in November have pushed futures-linked traders to raise their quotations. Manufacturers are also limiting low-priced sales, reducing the availability of supply through intermediate traders.
Although prices are gaining some support from tighter supply, a stronger recovery in spot transactions will depend on downstream restocking demand and further inventory reductions.
